Chennai Super Kings won 3 IPL in 2010

The third edition of the Indian Premier League is back in India and had eight teams participating in the tournament. The same eight sides which had played in the second edition of the tournament, Indians in Mumbai, Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan and Rajasthan Royals Kings XI Punjab, chargers played in this edition of the tournament as well.

Kolkata were appalling, as they had been in the second edition of the tournament. Sourav Ganguly was named captain of the side but that has hardly helped matters as they went down rather easily in the tournament - ranging from a loss to another.
Mumbai, on the other hand, had obtained such as Kieron Pollard in their side and got going early in the tournament. After two poor tournaments, they looked like the team to beat as Tendulkar finally obtained is in the format of the game.

On the other hand, there was a little disappointing performances which by Kings XI Punjab where they did exactly that Kolkata had done in the second tournament - went from a loss to another, and ultimately came crashing.
Chennai, which was far more consistent team in the tournament, started slowly but picked up momentum toward the end of the tournament and then to enter the semi-final as well.
There are two teams of the previous edition of the tournament final, Bangalore and Deccan took to the semi-finals as well.

Mumbai then beat Bangalore in the first semi-final of the tournament, and this was followed by a convincing victory for Chennai on Deccan Chargers. There was a third place play-off, which went to Bangalore, while Chennai Mumbai beat in the final to win the trophy.
